Arathai Din Eak
Senior Lecturer
Arathai Din Eak is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead for the BA (Honours) in English Studies at the School of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Wawasan Open University (WOU). She holds a PhD in Arts specialising in Teaching and Learning of English, an MA in Applied Linguistics, and a Degree in TESL. Her professional career began as an English teacher in Malaysian government schools before she served as a part-time lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kedah.
Her research interests encompass Teaching and Learning of English, Applied Linguistics, Language and Culture, Digital Migration, and Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Her scholarly work examines how language, culture, and identity are constructed and negotiated in digitally mediated and open learning contexts. She has a particular interest in narrative writing, multimodal communication, and technology-enhanced pedagogies that support learner engagement and language development.

Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Irina Safitri Zen
Assistant Professor
Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Irina Safitri Zen is a globally recognized sustainability champion and Assistant Professor in Urban and Regional Planning at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). With a PhD in Environmental Management from UKM, she pioneers sustainability science through climate change governance, environmental planning, and urban resilience strategies that harmonize development with ecological limits.
Research Interests & Focus: Climate change adaptation, heritage for sustainable development, sustainable urban development, disaster risk reduction, and circular economy – integrating ESG principles with Islamic urbanism to create resilient, equitable cities.
Dr. Zen has authored 50+ influential publications advancing sustainable urban futures. Named among Malaysia’s top 20 women in sustainability (MIT-UTM, 2015), she developed UNESCO-recognized MasterClass courses and leads transformative sustainability programs across Cambodia, Bali, and Johor. Recipient of the Sumitomo grant for ‘Okayama Sustainable Society – Education for Sustainable Development,’ she currently leads the Habitat Foundation Grant on ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage for indigenous community river-based Tagal System in Sabah,’ championing community-driven sustainability solutions throughout Southeast Asia.

Cherish How
Senior Lecturer
Cherish How is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in pragmatics and discourse studies. Her research examines the discourse of marginalised and under-represented voices within institutional and mediated contexts. Her research interests lie primarily in speech acts and (im)politeness, with particular attention to how language reflects social values, power relations, and identity construction in media and social media discourse. Her earlier work focused on the concerns and academic needs of foster children, which led to her recent authored book, Foster Children Speak: A Glimpse into Their Academic Journey. In addition to this book, she has published research articles and book chapters in journals and edited volumes, and has presented her research at international conferences in Asia and Europe. She is currently expanding her research agenda into medical discourse.

Dr. Anis Nadiah Che Abdul Rahman

Dr. Anis Nadiah Che Abdul Rahman is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Research in Language and Linguistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her research explores how women and gender are represented in public discourse, particularly in political communication, news media, and social media in Malaysia. Using large collections of texts such as parliamentary debates, media reports, and online discussions, she examines how language shapes public attitudes, power relations, and social identities. Her work combines data-driven analysis with critical perspectives to examine how gendered meanings are created and circulated in everyday and institutional communication. More broadly, she is interested in using digital and corpus-based approaches to address socially relevant issues and to support more inclusive and equitable public discourse.

Farah Mursyieda Mohammad Fuad

Farah Mursyieda Mohammad Fuad is a Research Assistant and PhD candidate in the Department of Government and Civilizational Studies, Faculty of Human Ecology at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She holds a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from Universiti Malaya. Prior, she obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Universiti Utara Malaysia and was a legal practitioner. Her research interests are the intersection of digital politics, human rights, and marginalised communities, with a focus on hate speech. Farah was recently awarded the Best Presenter at the Gender Outlook Forum (GOF) Malaysia for her research, Does My Opinion Not Matter Because I’m Female?, which analysed the impacts of gendered hate speech on online political discourse.

Isma Noornisa Ismail

Isma Noornisa Ismail is a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Language Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, and a postdoctoral researcher at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her research interests include pragmatics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and crisis communication, and she is currently exploring forensic linguistics. Her work focuses on impoliteness, online discourse, and multilingual communication, with particular interest in how language shapes social interaction in digital spaces. Her forensic linguistic research centres on cyberstalking and the analysis of language in online harm.

Najah Zainal Abidin

Dr Najah Zainal Abidin is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Universiti Malaya specializing in pragmatics, discourse analysis, and (im)politeness studies. Her research examines how language constructs social meaning in mediated communication, with particular attention to hate speech, impoliteness, and political discourse. Her work aims to develop linguistically grounded frameworks for understanding discrimination and aggression in multicultural contexts, especially in Malaysia. She has published in international journals and has led a research project on harmful online communication and digital interaction. Beyond research, she is actively involved in teaching pragmatics and mentoring student researchers interested in online aggressive language.

Najlaa’ Nasuha binti Mohd Radin

Najlaa’ Nasuha binti Mohd Radin is a Senior English Lecturer at the Academy of Language Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Terengganu. She has taught English at the tertiary level since 2014 and has experience in academic leadership, curriculum design, and professional development programmes for educators. Her research is grounded in Second Language Acquisition and Applied Linguistics, with close attention to technology-mediated language learning in ESL settings. Her main interests include automated written corrective feedback, corpus-based analysis of learner language, and discourse practices in academic and instructional contexts. She also explores World Languages and Intercultural Communication, focusing on how digital and multimodal environments shape language use, interaction, and meaning making across cultures. Through her research projects, she seeks to strengthen evidence-based teaching practices, support learner autonomy, and contribute to informed use of digital tools in higher education language classrooms, with relevance for policy, pedagogy, assessment, and inclusive curriculum design.

Noorlila Ahmad

Noorlila Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, Kulliyyah of Education, at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her research focuses on emotional and behavioural difficulties, psychological well-being, digital competency, citizenship and ecopsychology, with particular attention to culturally responsive and evidence-based approaches in education. She is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research exploring how digital environments, family engagement and school practices shape learners’ holistic development. Dr Noorlila’s work also integrates nature-based learning and strengths-based perspectives to enhance resilience, character development and academic flourishing among children and adolescents. She is committed to translating research into practice through teacher training, community engagement and policy-informed initiatives that support inclusive, sustainable and psychologically healthy learning environments.

Sahar Rasoulikolamaki

Sahar Rasoulikolamaki is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. Her research examines how political and social divisions are produced and sustained through mediated discourse, with a focus on ideology, group-based identity, and processes of inclusion and exclusion. Working within critical discourse studies and critical multimodal frameworks, she investigates how linguistic and other semiotic resources are organised to (de)legitimise positions, assign blame and victimhood, and align audiences morally and ideologically. Her work focuses on anti-immigration rhetoric, violent and non-violent radicalisation (including Islamist extremism and far-right politics), as well as global security and counter-terrorism discourse, across social media, mainstream news discourse, and institutional contexts. Her research has been published in journals such as Discourse & Communication, Discourse & Society, Journal of Language and Politics, Terrorism and Political Violence, Journalism Studies, among others.

Dr. Siti Soraya Lin Abdullah Kamal

Dr. Siti Soraya Lin Abdullah Kamal is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Distance Education, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her PhD in Education from the University of Sheffield. Her research interests fall within the areas of ESL learning, language and literacy development, and pedagogical approaches that incorporate media and technology. She is involved in teaching, research, publication, and academic supervision in higher education, and is actively engaged in national and international academic collaborations. Her ongoing national research grant focuses on the use of environmental print to support ESL learning among underprivileged families. She is also working on a USM bridging grant that examines parental use of YouTube for their children’s ESL learning.

Tooba Malik
PhD candidate
Tooba Malik is a PhD candidate at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a professional background in pharmacy and public health. Originally from Pakistan and currently based in Malaysia, her research interests are shaped by her lived experience as an expat and academic training in health sciences.
She focuses on how linguistic and cultural barriers influence healthcare access and medication adherence among migrant communities in Malaysia, with a particular interest in health communication in pharmacy and clinical settings, patient understanding of medication instructions, and culturally responsive healthcare delivery.
In addition, she explores how mobile health (mHealth) interventions can enhance patient engagement, improve health literacy, and support medication adherence among diverse and underserved populations.
Using quantitative and qualitative approaches, her broader research agenda aims to generate evidence that can inform inclusive health policies, improve patient–provider communication, and enhance health outcomes in multicultural contexts.

You Hui Wei

You Hui Wei is an Assistant Professor at Xiamen University Malaysia. She also serves as a Research Fellow at UNITAR International University and an Adjunct Supervisor at SEGi University. Dr. You earned her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Finance from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2022. Her scholarly work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science (ESCI, SSCI, SCIE) and Scopus. She is an active peer reviewer and a recipient of the Emerald Literati Outstanding Reviewer Award.
